The Project:
‘Hot lunches’ was another requisition high on the school’s agenda for modifications and enhancements. The only possible potential space was a new modular unit ‘bolted-on’ to the Hall. Student sat daily in the Main Hall for lunches. Planning permission was swiftly applied for and successfully obtained early on in the project. A 100 tonne contract lift crane was hired in to perform this! Concrete padstone installed to support the base. An external cavity wall opening was cut through from the Main School Hall with a fire roller shutter opening hatch.
The Mains incoming electrical supply to the whole school was neither sufficient for the overall refurbishment upgrades nor for this additional brand new Catering Facility. (see separate Mains Electric Upgrade case study for further details).
Internal fitout including lighting, power, plumbing, waste, hygienic food-grade white wall cladding. Stainless steel catering equipment included freestanding tables, island units, storage units, 2 Bain Marie serving and food-warming storage units, 2 separate sinks and drainers both for pre and post washing. Separate hand-washing sinks, 2 large ovens with capacity to serve approx 250 persons per single lunch-break. Above counter dishwasher featuring 3 washing cycles (between 70 and 240 seconds at 60/70°C). Electric insect-o-cutor, stainless steel extraction hood, 2 tall stainless steel fridges and 2 stainless steel freezers.
