Maritime Coastguard Agency

A UK governmental agency working to prevent the loss of life on the coast and at sea. Producing legislation and guidance on maritime matters and certification to seafarers.  An executive agency sponsored by the Department of Transport.  Providing 24-hour maritime search and rescue service around the UK coast and international search and rescue through HM Coastguard.  A team of 1050 staff and 3500 volunteers.  Headquarters located in Southampton, Hampshire and offices and co-ordination centres around the UK coast.

The Project:   

OC Projects Ltd were very pleased to be appointed to refurbish and fitout brand new industrial unit to MCA’s corporate identity, standards and specifications.  Works included: create, design and build a mezzanine floor complete with metal stairs, mid-landing, metal balustrades and fireproofing.  New first floor offices including new suspended ceiling, lighting and emergency lights, electrical, power, data, air-conditioning, USB ports.  Décor, skirting, fire-rated windows and Oak doors.  New kitchen facility with wall and base units, worktop and tiles.  Ground floor works included: demolish existing ground floor DDA WC facility, create and build in new location elsewhere including lighting and emergencies.  Create and build a New Drying Room.  Relocation of existing electrical distribution board from ground to first floor.  Relocation of existing fire alarm system.  New heat recovery system throughout.  Shotblast existing warehouse floor and install 3-part resin safety flooring.  External works included altering foul water drainage, new additional inspection chamber, making good to existing concrete path.  Testing, commissioning ready for building control submission, sign-off and completion
