St Edwards School Stable Building

The School needed additional teaching space and were looking to convert an adjacent surplus former stable building into this.

The Challenge:

Converting Grade II listed buildings is no small challenge. The named building in particular was not actually of listed status, however deemed similar. Approximately 24 months later from project initiation between OC Projects and St Edwards School the School was given the ‘green light’ to convert the empty and disused stable building.

The Works:

Externals:

Removals included: an external Entrance door and frame, increasing the opening height to suit floor with cavity level. Design, manufacture and insta of 1 bespoke black timber door and frame of similar design. Create a new concrete ramp to new Entrance door. Design, manufacture and installation of 1 pair bespoke part-glazed timber external fire-exit doors of similar design. Alter stable door to suit new raised floor levels and difference in external ground-height. 3 new man-holes.

Internals:

Removals of kitchen units complete with 3 sinks. Careful demolition to a Lobby, door, wall and false ceilings. Creation of 3 new classrooms / therapy rooms. Cut 2 openings through masonry walls. Bespoke new softwood timber carpeted stairs down to original floor levels. Raised access floors, bespoke fire-doors, stainless steel handrailing. Exposed pipework left as was. Mechanical, electrical, décor and flooring throughout.
