One of the largest providers of specialist education and behaviour health services for children and adults in the UK.  Specialist residential schools, care and education locations with specific services focusing on individuals with high educational severity needs.  Piloted in 2003 called NHP Healthcare Partnerships backed by GI Partners in 2004 when Cambian Healthcare was formed.  Received Ofsted’s highest rating and praised for delivering an ‘outstanding level of care and education between 2006 and 2009.  Cambian today works with a majority of Local Authorities in England and Wales and employs more than 4000 people.

The Brief:

Office Concepts was delighted to win tender with new client to refurbish Canteen/Breakout Area. To resemble a fast-food outlet to encourage eating, health and well-being in an SEN establishment

The Challenge:

Works had to commence and be completed in the limited summer vacation and student absence. Certain internal areas were Grade II listed therefore features had to be preserved and unaltered. Specific items were bespoke, on long manufacturer lead-times and precise dimensions could not be issued    until on-site construction works had fully commenced.  Careful planning and consideration was critical in the early stages to ensure this project was delivered seamlessly and handover successful.

The Project:

The works included stripout of all existing lighting, electrical, radiators, flooring and servery hatch.  Installation works included MF ceilings, feature drop and bulkheads, walls dry-lined, recessed electrical downlighters and emergencies.  Alterations to fire detectors, sounders, and telephone. Data cabling. New fire rated roller shutter servery hatch.  Full decoration throughout.  Bespoke fire rated coloured internal doors with square vision panels.  Bespoke joinery including colour spray painted feature flat screen wall.  Vertical flat panel radiators. Canteen and bespoke furniture as in bright coloured table, stools, barstools, soft seating. Slip resistant three coloured vinyl flooring to main open plan, walkways and perimeter areas.
